Dermal filler aftercare
Cool Compress Application
- Cool Compress: Apply a cool compress to the treated area (avoid direct skin contact with ice) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment.
Heat Avoidance
- Heat-Inducing Activities: Refrain from engaging in heat-inducing activities for 24 hours, including strenuous exercise, spas, saunas, and hot showers.
Pressure Avoidance
- Avoid Pressure: During the initial 48 hours, avoid putting pressure on the treated area. If possible, sleep on your back and avoid face-down massages.
Alcohol Restraint
- No Alcohol: Abstain from alcohol for 24 hours. For those seeking optimal filler results, consider abstaining from alcohol for 7 days both before and after treatment.
Cosmetic Products
- Cosmetic Product Restrictions: Avoid active cosmeceutical products like AHAs, retinols, and vitamin C, as well as oil-based makeup for 24 hours.
Skin Soothing
- Topical Treatment: Use a topical treatment such as Bepanthen or Arnica cream to soothe and calm the skin. Apply this three times a day for the next 7 days.
Post-Treatment Procedures
- Avoid Specific Procedures: Stay clear of facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, microdermabrasion, IPL, or laser treatments for 2 weeks after treatment. If you have future treatment plans, please discuss them with us if you are unsure.
Massage Instruction
- No Uninstructed Massage: Do not massage the treated area unless instructed to do so.
Expected Swelling
- Inflammatory Response: Injections can trigger an inflammatory response, leading to swelling in the treatment area for up to 14 days. It’s common for the area to appear uneven, feel bumpy, and be sore. This is normal, so there’s no need to panic.
Plumpness Over Time
- Gradual Plumpness: As the swelling subsides, the treatment area may appear significantly less plump than immediately after the injection. Don’t be disappointed if you were expecting a fuller look. It often takes two or more sessions for the filler to form a base layer and start building.
Follow-Up Care
- After 14 Days: If you still have concerns about the treatment area after 14 days, please contact us with a photo, and we will schedule a follow-up appointment to address your needs.
These guidelines are essential for ensuring the best possible results and your comfort following your treatment.
